For PvP characters:
1. Subtract a certain amount of Faction and Fame
2. If Faction is 0, then undo/re-lock the last unlock that the player had done
3. Similarly, decrement Rank when Fame reaches specific levels

For PvE characters:
1. Subtract experience
2. Adjust for skill points and level according to the new experience. For example, the last skill captured may become unavailable if the player loses a skill point. Below the minimum xp required for lvl20, de-level the character.

Something needs to be done to penalize rage quitters in general. (PvP & PvE) I know this has discussed when Prophecies was in beta also but this issue needs to be brought up again and again until Anet finds a solution for this.

Teams with +6 A/X should get a penalty.

Oh... I mean leaving should give you a penalty...

This should have been put into effect a long time ago, for both PvE and PvP. Unless you happen to be a masochist who loves doing things over and over.

Quitters are getting beyond annoying. Anet needs to seriously address this before they release it.

For PvP: signed.
For PvE: NOT signed (PvE should never be forced into pvp battles and missions should just be optional)

it has to be the money idea because there are people from kurzick or luxons that will go on their enemies teams and leave, i mean wat have they got to lose their enemies faction thats pointlesss to them, i like the money fine more but its got 1 big problem people can easily just go in with no money.

but my personal fav penalty has to be if u leave u will be banned from either playing the whole game for 5,10,15 mins or just be banned from doing those battles for 5,10,15 mins

But I don't agree with losing money. I'd agree with losing faction and fame (and thus losing rank). Also it could be made so that if you go awol you wouldn't be allowed to join any type of pvp for say- 2 hours?

Or Anet could go capital punishment on them. Nothing like a message saying: "Your character Xxx Yyy has been found guilty of cowardice and has been executed (deleted). May Dwayna have mercy on your soul."

Quitters are annoying but there are different types of quitters.

Quitters on your team is so common in random PvP or even PvE.

Quitters on the opposing team who quit just before they die so you DO NOT get the faction points your team deserves. I am seeing lots of this type of quitters in random PvP now. Their mentality is like "If I don't die, I don't lose!"

During the Preview weekend, there was a W/N warrior on my random team who only played the first game and then he just left his warrior in the game for no reasons. The irony of this is that my random team won 4-5 games with only 3vs4. This W/N actually came back and talked to us after 5 games! What a dick and then he just left.

I can't wait to see some punishment on those quitters!

Mmmmm, I am not sure if faction or fame can really punish those who just join the game and leave. Obviously they don't really care about any of the stuff. I think those who keep joining a game and leaving should be WARNED by A.Net with an email or something.

For more causal quitters, faction/money/fame penalities are fine. They don't bother me anyway.

What I also want to see is a system where we CAN see our party members' "Credit Score", much like your credit history. This simple chart shows how many times this character has died, left the game and things like that. Those who want to form a great team will be able to check out their "credit score" before making the team.

I also would love the "Kick Out" system. Something like if the player joins a game either PvP or PvE and that party has not issued any command like moving or attacking/running for 3mins, the game kicks the person out and in the next round (if lucky), one random player gets added on to the team.

I completely agree with the need for a penalty, but not just here, there are too many leavers everywhere, even normal pve in Prophecies is a pain with pickup groups.

Arenanet needs to put in some sort of penalty rules that apply to all forms of teamplay, or rather vary depending on of its pvp or pve.

Simple time penalty is all that is needed. They may hurt that one game but there will be many more games played during that time he/she is out of it. If you have valid reason then a 15 minute wait is not a big problem to deal with. By the time you log back in the time limit will be over or almost over.

Taking faction away hurts people that had a power cut or disconnect or other valid excuse.

Gold does absolutely nothing if he doesnt have any to start with.

Man, this is one of the best solutions I've heard! Yeah, Time Penalty. If A.Net found out somebody who just keeps joining and leaving the game, that person will get warned first and if he just keeps doing it, Time Penalty is the best way! I am sure that person doesn't care about fame/money/faction points.
